To capture every nuance, Yamaha has developed a non-contact optical sensor system that doesn't affect the key movements themselves. Under each button is an optical sensor that registers the movement and intensity of the keystroke. An additional optical sensor on each hammer shaft measures the timing and resistance of the hammer movements as they attack the virtual “strings”. This digital information is directly transformed into a wonderfully authentic piano sound. The result: the more you play, the more you feel at one with your instrument.
