Vienna Concert
An innovative process that brings together everything a seasoned artist seeks in a grand piano: sumptuous colors, dynamic sound projection, and flawless mechanics. The Vienna Concert line is the sound of the next generation.
A Unique Resonating Body
Unlike other piano manufacturers, Bösendorfer favors solid spruce over laminated wood for its resonating bodies. They are composed of 80% spruce, from the soundboard to the outer rim. As with a violin, the entire resonating body participates in sound formation and projection. Craftsmen prepare the inner rim to perfectly match the outer rim's curvature. Thanks to this unique process, vibrations spread to all spruce components. The entire piano becomes a resonating body, ensuring a rich and colorful palette of nuances.
Precision Mechanics
From the most delicate pianissimo to the most powerful fortissimo, Bösendorfer pianos offer exceptionally precise touch. Developed with numerous artists and technicians, their mechanics are the result of nearly 200 years of research.
Hand-Wound Bass Strings
All bass strings are hand-wound using a process unique to Bösendorfer. Each string includes a steel core around which one or two copper strings are wound, depending on the desired pitch.
Independent Capo Tasto Bar
Bösendorfer is the only manufacturer in the world to install a removable capo tasto bar in the treble register, allowing precise adjustment. Even after years of use, it can be easily serviced and repositioned.
Traditional Sand Casting
Frames are made using the traditional sand casting process. Manufactured in Austria, they are stored outdoors for six months to eliminate internal tensions from the molten metal casting, then support a tension of nearly twenty tons.
Open Pin Block
The pin block consists of three 7mm layers of quarter-sawn maple glued with crossed grain, set on a red beech base. This structure ensures solid tuning pin anchoring. The top layer features a 1.5mm walnut veneer, a characteristic Bösendorfer detail.
Individually Attached Strings
Each string is individually attached with a handmade loop, facilitating maintenance and improving tuning stability.
The Song of Wood
Resonance spruce grows in Austria at 800m altitude, an environment allowing regular growth. Cut and split only in winter, it naturally air-dries for five years. Bösendorfer composes its pianos with over 80% of this wood, a higher rate than any other manufacturer. Including drying time, it takes six years to transform a tree into a piano.
A Dream Come True
Exclusive production of 300 pieces per year allows for complete customization: original finish, color, initials, or dedication. Master craftsmen submit a sample before manufacturing to ensure compliance with expectations.
Austrian Craftsmanship
A Bösendorfer is a legacy passed through generations. Craftsmen give each piano its own identity, color, and brilliance, stemming from authentic Viennese expertise. It takes a year of work to achieve the Bösendorfer sound.
