Italian composer, conductor and pianist Ferruccio Busoni meticulously transcribes J.S. Bach's famous organ works. They soon realised that he required additional bass notes to make Bach's masterpieces. Ludwig Bösendorfer was up to the challenge and built the first prototype with 8 full octaves in the tonal scale. Not only did Busoni begin to appreciate the exceptional qualities of the Imperial concert piano, but Bartók and Debussy composed new works to exploit the enormous resonance of this incredible instrument.
